Today in algebra period 6, we learned about disjunctions in compound inequalities. A disjunction of two statements is formed by connecting them with the word"or". A disjunction is true when one or both statements are true.
Ex. g) x< or equal to-1 or x>4

Ex.-2x-6>4 or x+5>8 +6 +6 -5 -5 -2x>10 or x>3 -1/2(-2x)>-1/2(10) x<-5 or x>3
Due to dividing by a negative the sign must change.

To distinguish it from a conjunction you need to remember that a disjunction has an "or" in the equation, a conjunction has an "and" in the equation which means both in terms of a conjunction.
For example: -2x-6>4 or x+5>8 +6|+6 -5|-5 -1/2(-2x)>-1/2(10) x>3 x<-5 or x>3
Since I multiplied by a negative fraction I need to flip the inequality.

In order to tell if the equation is a disjuntion u look for the word "or" in the middle of the equation. It tells you that your going to have two points that do not connect. They go separate ways, unlike the conjunction where the space in between the two points are shaded. In this case they are not.
For example: if it tells you to graph... g.) x<-1 OR x>4 The "or tells you its a disjunction, so the graph should look like this... -5_-4_-3_-2_-1_0_1_2_3_4_5 On you number line you should have a open circle on the negitive one, and shade everything to the left side, and graph a open circle on the four and shade in everything on the right side.
