Today in class we learned point-slope form: y-y1=m(x-x1). We also learned how to write equations in point-slope form when given a point and a slope. Ex- (4,2), m=5 y-2=5(x-4) y-2=5x-20 +2 +2 Answer: y=5x-18 We also learned how to write an equation when given a pair of points. Ex- (8,2) (2,6) (8,2)-(2,6)=6,-4= -4/6= -2/3 y-2= -2/3(x-8) y-2= -2/3x+16/3 +2 +2 Answer: y=-2/3x+22/3
Well, due to a confusion in the journal entries(achoo*Eric), it seems I am obligated to report some more mathematical fun... -Today, in Mr.Gerson's class,We not only discussed Point Slope Form, but also how to become millionares in the stock market. Sweet:) Anyway, this involves the formula y-y1=m(x-x1).Although Mr.Gerson used a fair amount of sarcasm in the difficulty of this lesson, it was pretty easy, but of course others would disagree.Anyway, un ejemplo (=one example in spanish)would be: (-2,1), m=-3 first, you would substitute the 1 for y1, then -2 for x1, and -3 for m... y-1=3(x+2) then, you would use the distributive property to make it workable.End result: y-1=-3x-6 then, to get 'y' by itself, you would add 1 to both sides: +1 +1 __________ y=-3x-5 This is your final answer!

You would put the y cordinate ,2, in the y1 and the x cordinate ,4, in the x1 and also the 5 which is the slope. So the point slope form with the numbers would look like.... y-2=5(x-4). WAIT BUT THATS NOT ALL you can turn that into slope intercept form. First is which you would distribute the 5(x-4). y-2=5x-20 THEN add 2 to both sides. +2 +2 = y=5x-18 for your slope intercept form.
