* are exponents
-review-
Today in class we review the past topics like the factoring steps thing steps 1-7
which are the following
factoring algorithm:
1.Remove the Greatest Monomial Factor
2.Check for the Difference of Two Squares
3.Check for a Perfect Square Trinomial
4.Factor x*+bx+c
5.Factor ax*+bx+c
6.Factor by Grouping
7.Always factor completely!
it was reviw from the last chapter
We also did some examples-

105)x*-4x=x(x-4)
the other ones
109)2x*-8=2(x*-4) had the box and
=2(x+2)(x-2) diamond!!!!

113)x*-8xy+16y*=(x-4y)
a*+2ab+b*

Journal Entry for 1/3/11
Today in class we reviewed factoring. We did examples for each of the seven steps in the factoring algorithm.
Here are some examples that we did :
x²-4x = x(x-4)
x²-8xy+16y² = (x-4y)²
2x²-8 = 2(x²-4) = 2(x+2)(x-2)

Alright today we returned from winter break. We didn't learn any new material but instead reviewed our factoring steps(steps1-7).
1.)Remove the greatest monomial factor.
2.)Check for the difference of two squares.
3.)Check for a perfect square Trinomial.
4.)Factor x*+bx+c
5.)Factor ax*+bx+c
6.)Factor by grouping
7.) ALL WAYS FACTOR COMPLETELY
Mr. Gerson showed a couple examples like this
#105= x*-4x=x(x-4)

January 3,2011 Journal Entry

Since it was the first day back from winter break we reviewed the factoring algorithm that we learned in chapter 6. We reviewed the 7 steps-
1. Remove the greatest monomial factor
2. Check for the difference of two squares
3. Check for a perfect square trinomial
4. Factor x^2+bx+c
5. Factor ax^2+bx+c
6. Factor by grouping
7. ALWAYS FACTOR COMPLETELY

exp.

105) x^2-4x=x(x-4)

109)2x^2-8=2(x^2-4)
=2(x=2)(x-2)

Today in Mr. Gerson's 3rd period class we reviewed our factoring algorithm. The steps were,
1.Remove the greatest monomial factor
2.Check for the difference of two squares.
3.Check for a perfect square trinomial.
4.Factor x^2+bx+c
5.Factor ax^2+bx+c
6.Factor by grouping
7.ALWAYS FACTOR COMPLETELY
Here are some examples.
109)2x^2-8=
2(x^2-4)
2(x+4)(x-4)

117)x^2-2x-35=
(x+5)(x-7)

Today, we practiced and reviewed the 7 steps of factoring algorithm in class.
here are some examples:
#105) x^2-4x = x(x-4) -Remove the greatest monomial factor

#123) x^4+2x^3-3x-6 =(x^3-3)(x+2)
x + 2
x^3|x^4|2x^3|
-3|-3x| -6 |
-Factor by grouping :)

i will just out my journal here for 1/4/11
today we took just like a review test on stuff we did before our minds went blank. most of us did not have any idea how to do it but mr gerson showed us the explanation in the end and most of us finally got it. i dont remember any examples because i remembered it all after he showed us.

Journal Entry- 1/4/11

Today in class we took at review/practice test. We all had blank faces and had no idea what we were doing. Lucky, Mr. Gerson helped us understand and prepare us for the State Test. After he showed us and showed explanations for each problem we worked on our homework for a couple of minutes.
HOMEWORK- pg. 355 (130-138)

No one else? =/ Just because there isn't a new post on the blog, doesn't mean that you can't post anything on the previous one.

We took a review that no one was ready for. It was on Slope Intercept Form, graphing points, and factoring algorithm. Mr. Gerson then showed us how to solve the problems after they were collected.

Yep. That was how it went. The district wanted a "pre-assessment". It seemed a waste of time to me, so I made sure that the first half could incorporate the review I wanted to do that day while meeting the district objective. I was pleased that I was able to cover what I wanted to cover in 4 out of 5 classes.
