Journal entry 1/18/11 Today Mr. Garson reviewed homework. After Mr. Garson reviewed Chapter 8 project. We took notes about Systems of two Linear Equations.
I have told you guys not to use my name. Seriously, it is about what you learned, not about me. Changing the spelling of my name doesn't make it right.
Oh dear only 2 entries..... D:< It's like after that one time where everyone posted their entries, the number of people who actually kept posting them on their specified date slowly diminished.... Sad.
Journal Entry for 1/18/11: Today in class, we learned about the second part of the systems of linear equations, the Substitution method. ex. Solve by substitution. x+y=5 x=y+1 First, you substitute y+1 for x in the first equation. (y+1)+y=5 then just solve for y. y+1+y=5 2y+1=5 2y=4 y=2 this is the y-coordinate. now substitute 2 for y in the second equation to get the x-coordinate. x=y+1 x=2+1 x=3 the ordered pair is (3,2).
Journal entry 1/18/11 Marina Kato per.5 Today we reviewed homework. After we reviewed Chapter 8 project. We took notes about Systems of two Linear Equations.
I need a list of those who met their comment posting obligations and those who didn't, so I can make an entry in the gradebook before next Friday. Thank you!!!

Not sure about other periods, but for Per. 1 and 2, everbody (but Melissa and Marissa) needs to do Friday's hw again.

Today Mr. Garson reviewed homework. After Mr. Garson reviewed Chapter 8 project. We took notes about Systems of two Linear Equations.
EX:
Solve by Substitution
a.x+y=5 x=y+1
x+y=5
(y+1)+y=5
y+1+y=5
2y+1=5
-1 -1
2y+0=4
1/2(2y)=1/2(4)
y=2
x=y+1
x=2+1
x=3
(3,2)is the solution

Today in class, we learned about the second part of the systems of linear equations, the Substitution method.
ex. Solve by substitution.
x+y=5 x=y+1
First, you substitute y+1 for x in the first equation.
(y+1)+y=5 then just solve for y.
y+1+y=5
2y+1=5
2y=4
y=2 this is the y-coordinate.
now substitute 2 for y in the second equation to get the x-coordinate.
x=y+1
x=2+1
x=3
the ordered pair is (3,2).
