11/1/10
Today we learned (practiced) how to solve and identify polynomials.
The problems we solved had some funky figures (shapes) in them so i'll write down the expression ones.
#3. (3x2 + 2x-2) + (-2x2+5x+5)=
(3x2 + 2x-2-2x2)=(x2+7x+3)
*note that a polynomial is a monomial or a sum of monomials.

Journal entry
Today in math we learned about identifying and adding polynomials.
Example (3x2+2x-2)+(2x2+5x+5)=
5x2+7x+3
You can solve this in either verical or horizontal. I used the horizontal way.

yes u have to justify but on the word problems it's not really possible

Today we learned about polynomials. We learned how to combine/add the polynomials. For example: (3x^2+2x-2)+(-2x^2+5x+5)=x^2+7x+3

Today we learned how to find the area of odd shaped figures and how to add them.
we also learned how to add polynomials Ex.
horizantal (3x^2+2x-2)+(-2x^2+5x+5)
= x^2+7x+3
or vertical 3x^2+2x-2
-2x^2+5x+5

For number 33 on page 234, do we substitute for n to show how it's commutative? And do we do both examples seperately or add them?

Today in class we took notes about finding the area polynomials. You had to combine like terms. some examples are: 3x2+2x-2
x2<-exponent -2x2+5x+5
=x2+7x+3

today we learned how to identify polynomials
eg.
3x+2x+1
5x+9x+3
add them all together
=19x+4

Today in math class we went over how to find the area of different shapes using polynomials. Mr. Gerson also taught us about using the horizontal and vertical methods for simplifying polynomials. Personally, i prefer the horizontal method just because I am used to it, but both methods work perfectlly well.

Today I learned how to solve and identify polinominals. Basically, just add together like terms as if you would to any other addition problem. At first, I didn't understand how to solve the questions, but I failed to write the exponents as exponents in the homework. My bad.
