Chapter 1 Test

We took the chapter 1 test today, and it is posted to Parent Connect.

Period / Mean / Median
    2       87%       90%
    3       84%       85%
    4       92%       95%
    5       83%       85%
    6       87%       93%

Great job!!!

The Mean scores are different from the Median scores because the median score is the middle score of how people did. and if the median score is higher that means fewer people did better than the median score.

its different because the mean is all the scores added and then divided by the number of scores so basically the average and the median is the score that was in da middle

Mr. Gerson, I am really surprised that I got such a low grade(16 out of 20= 80%), since the test seemed not very challenging.

Here is the answer to what mean and median are.
Mean: Add up all the numbers you have, and get a total. Then count the number of numbers there are and divide it from the total. The divided number is the mean. This divided number is your average.

Example
2,3,4,7

Add them up. You get 16. Then count how many numbers there are. In this case there are 4 numbers. Now do 16, which is our total and divide it 4. 16 divided by 4 is 4. Four is the mean.

Median: The middle of the numbers you have. In this case there is an even number of numbers (haha, that sounds weird)in the example.
The median of my example is between 3 and 4. The median is (3.5).

The difference between the two is that the mean is the average, and the median is the middle number of your range of numbers.

i know the answer i think? the mean scores r all the test scores added together n divided by how many people took the test as for the median score is the number ordered from least to greatest then u find the middle number.

i guess tats right is it?

The mean is different from the median because the mean is the average and the median is the middle of the scores if they were set in numerical order. right?

Well the mean is the average of the set of numbers, while on the other hand, the median is the number in the middle when the number set is ordered numerically.

mean is overall while the median is the middle of the numbers

mr. gerson, i tried logging on to parent connect to see my test scores
and im positive that my password and pin is correct. is there a reason i can log on or is it just me?

I believe the median is different than the mean because the mean is just the average, and the median is the middle number when all the numbers are organized sequentially.

I hope that's why..
haha.

That is easy mean is average and the median is middle
