I think everyone described or defined the difference between mean and median, but what conclusions can you draw from the difference between the mean and the median (take period 6 for example)?

Just as I said before,
if the Median is higher than the Mean that means less people did well on the test than the average scores
Is it that or the inverse of that? Maybe someone needs to explain what an outlier is.
Period 6 had a mean of 87%, and a median of 93%. They are different because there was probably an outlier in the scores. An example of the Period 6 scores could be 47, 90, 90, 95,and 100. The mean is 87% and the median is aroud 93%(acutally 92.5). 47 is the outlier, and it affects the mean, but not the median.
an outlier is th number that sticks out the most
ex:87,93,79,27,84

oh yeah and i think that about the other question the answer is that most of the people got high scores and maybe 1 person may have gotten a very low score that probably affected it
an outlier is a number in a number set that is far from all the other numbers on a number line. For example, if the number set is 1,3,4,7,54 the outlier is 54 because it is so far out from all the other numbers.....

An outlier is a number that stands by itself.
Example:
2,4,9,7,10,56,12,1
The outlier would be 56. It stands farthest away from rest of range of numbers.
Example 2: 400,109,393,415,430,427
109 is the outlier here. An outlier can either be smaller or larger than the rest of the range of numbers. It is from 390's to 430 in this case.
The outlier affects your mean because it make it much lower or higher.
