There will be a schedule change. Mr. Sheck has asked me to attend to some school business on Friday, so I will miss some periods. We will therefore be taking our Chapter 2 test on Friday.

Today we learned about quotients of real numbers. We learned what a reciprocal is. A reciprocal is like doing a handstand. Your hands go down and your feet go up. You flip the numerators and the denominators with each other and that is the reciprocal. After you find the reciprocal you have to always simplify it.
BTW: Sang Min good job on the handstand today in second period!!

Noemi, your problems were 37 and 39
For 37, you had to find how it would be written in the algeraic definition of subtraction. If you had 1/4, you would make it 1 times 1/4. That means you must take x away from the fration bar. Now, for the denominator, you must make that a fraction. If you had 2 as the denominator, you would make it 1/2. The denominator for this problem is already a fraction, so you do the same thing by finding its reciprocal.
On 39, its also the same thing. Take the numerator away from the fraction bar, and make the denominator its reciprocal. 5a+b would become 5a+b/1.
All you really have to do is find reciprocals and use the algebraic defintion of division.

Does the pretest count for a grade?

Today's lesson was about the quotients of real numbers. We learned that the reciprocal of a number is the numerator and the denominator of the original number switched. It is just like a hand stand.(Go Cynthia!) The formula is a/b= a*1/b.
