Today we discussed two models for showing addition: a number line model and an atom model.
p.68 (1-19:odd, 51-56)
You need to be able to do these problems without the use of a calculator.
Tomorrow, we will use virtual manipulatives to demonstrate subtraction. Do not forget you have a StudyIsland assignment due tomorrow too.

Hope you guys noticed the little icon and message at the top from the people who host the blog. The system will be down from about 4:00p to 4:10p.
The summary today is about sums of real nimbers. Today, we learned all kinds of things like, 0 has no opposite, so it;s niether positve or negative. Ans we l earned about number lines, and how positive numbers you go forward, if its a negative number you move back. And, how you add positives and negatives. We learned howto put them in number lie and atom models. Sense i already explained the numberline models lets move on to the atom model. When we did a simpl equationsuch as -5 + 2 we used plus signs and subtration signs and we learned ow to cancel them out like protons, neutrons, and electrons.Well, thats all for today.

Today's summary is on sums of real numbers. We had a quick review on the properties and we discussed about zero. Which it turned out it was neither positive or negative. We learned about number lines and that it is a negative numbers if you go to left from zero, and positive numbers if you go right from zero. Then, we learned about atom models today and did some simple problems. we learned which one attracted which one and learned to cancel them out just like real atom.(protons,neutrons,electrons)

Here is today's lesson:
Today's lesson was on sums of real numbers. In the lesson, an inverse of an inverse was part of our vocabulary. An example is - (-x) = x. Another word was additive inverse. Here's an example, x + (-a)= 0. Here are some ways of doing these problems: one is an number line and another is an atom model which Mr. Gerson showed us today in class. The important thing to remember while doing these problems are that only positives and negatives attract. Also be aware of where you put your numbers on your number lines.

Today's summary is about sums of real numbers, we learned many things, like an atom. Atom is a particle that has proton, electron, and neutron. Proton has positive charges, electron has negative charges, and neutron has no charges. We also learned about the fact that 0 is neither a positive nor a negative and that on a number line, if you move to the left from the 0 it's negative, but if you move right from the 0 it's positive. We learned about a
additive inverse(a+(-a)=0) and a inverse of an inverse(-(-n)=n).
It was easy to learn all of these things thanks to Mr.Gerson and his

Not meaning to nit pick, just to fix. In Anonymous paragraph, she/he said that x+(-a)=0. What if x did not equal a(whithout the negitive sign). Whoul'nt that stament be false?
