There are 3 properties of equality at the end of Chapter 2 that I have not covered yet. As far as the closure property, StudyIsland will give you an explanation if you click on the right link, or print out the problem and bring it to class for me to explain.
Closure basically means that since a is a real number and b is a real number then a + b is a real number. Since that won't make much sense, print a problem and bring it in for me to explain.

I cant print out the Question because we're out of paper, but I'll copy and paste: Mr. Thornton was describing the mathematical property of "closure" to his class and said that while integers may be closed under addition, subtraction, and multiplication, the integers are not closed under division. Which of the following examples proves his point? A:32 ÷ 8 B:45 ÷ 5 C:6 ÷ 6 D:24 ÷ 9

A:32 ÷ 8 =4 integer
B:45 ÷ 5 =9 integer
C:6 ÷ 6 =1 integer
D:24 ÷ 9 =8/3 not an integer

8/3 is a repeating decimal: 2.66666...
8/3 is real and rational but not an integer.
